On Friday night it was the finale of Ashes to Ashes, which is basically my most favourite programme ever. It was an amazing and emotional ending, I’ve watched it five times now and each time the tears aren’t showing any signs of easing off, especially during the last 10 minutes. I started to grizzle when trying to explain it all to my boyfriend Chris, and even felt a bit over-emotional when thinking about it on the way to work this morning! I’m not going to write a ‘proper’ review as I think it would probably involve me writing ‘amazing’ 700 million times, which of course would be hideously boring.

However, lots of other people have written about it, and Ian Wylie’s ever excellent blog mentions the fact that the old house at Farringfield Green is actually Stockers Farm near Rickmansworth. I had a bit of a dig around and there is a nice set of photos of it on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/just1snap/sets/72157613090814548/. Just looking at those pics makes me feel sad and a bit creepy. Apparently it has been used for lots of TV programmes, so I’ll try and look out for it, but I think that if I do ever see it on TV again it just won’t be the same and no doubt I’ll be severely disappointed that the programme I’m watching is nowhere near as good as Ashes.

I also discovered that there is a walk that goes through the farm, so I am in the middle of persuading Chris to come on the walk with me: http://www.bucks-wmiddx-ramblers.org.uk/walks/no-ri.html. Can’t wait! Maybe if I’m lucky the ghost of young PC M6620 might make an appearance…! Yes I know it’s only a TV programme. I’ve also threatened Chris with a tour of various London Ashes to Ashes ‘hot spots’ e.g. the City of London church where Alex got shot, the pub near London Bridge that got transformed into The Railway Arms, Christopher Street in EC2 where the building used for the outside shots of Fenchurch East police station is located (that we walked along last year not realising!!), various street locations that I recognised from years of traipsing around East London etc. I’m sure he won’t mind!
